Bio
Pietro Panza was born in Polla (18 September 1997) but soon moved to Bologna. He began being interested in photography when he was 14 years old. His practice led him to study in London at the University of Westminster from September 2016.From that moment on, he kept a expect to be graduated by July 2019.
Artist Statement
Pietro Panza is an artist mainly working with the photographic medium. Influenced by Walter Benjamin’s writings, the Conceptual art movement of the 60s and 70s and the postmodern critique of representation, his practice is focused on questioning the contemporary condition. His
analyse concepts such as photography’s ontological status (On A Certain Blindness in Photography, 2018 and Cose Fuori Posto, 2016 - ongoing)or the role played by photography in the construction of memory (Far-away Portraits, 2017 - ongoing and The Emptiness of Form, 2016-2019). In his latest work, Postcards on Postcard Holder 2019, he reflects on the current meaning of art and its role in contemporary society.series
